Israeli composer, musicologist and Tar player, Piris Eliyahu was born in Daghestan and immigrated to Israel in 1989. For many years Eliyahu researched the music of eastern Jewry, with an emphasis on the northern and eastern Caucasus.
This album includes examples of liturgical music of the Mountain Jews. All recordings were carried out by Piris Eliyahu on location among the Jewish communities of the Caucasus.
